Best quality: His loyalty. He may nag and nag and nag. But that means he loves you THAT MUCH MORE and will protect you until the end. Once you have him as an ally, he will always be on your side.

❦ BACKGROUND
Basic overview: Shinji was born into a fairly wealthy family, things were complicated from the time he was born, political movements happening within the country, his own clan and his family. While he was busy going through grade school, Junior high and college, his family argued whether it would be best to leave the Clandestine or stay and wait out the civil strife. The decision was made for them when Shinji was called up to go through a painful and, by this time, controversial procedure. A magic tattoo would be painted onto his body, only those in his clan knew the secret to the technique, which could unlock a Wizard's potential in manipulating and modifying energy. He was fortunate, he almost died but his body held out.

As he recovered from the procedure, the call came for the rest of the children to be tattooed. His parents decided that they would all have to run, trying to find the proper paperwork and means to get out of the country with all of their children. However, their plans were discovered before they were fully prepared to leave, they urged Shinji to leave before them, with Yoshie, their youngest. They promised to follow him, with his remaining siblings. They never came.


Under the supervision of a close family friend, Sui Hashimoto, he made a living in Tokyo, with his sister, finding odd jobs, staying underground and raising her the best he could. Then one day... a strange girl named after the Greek goddess of victory came into his life....

Three defining events from canon: - He rescues Nike, even though he knows nothing about her, when she was kidnapped. He doesn't especially want to have anything to do with her, however it's on Yoshie's insistence and his own sense of duty.

- He was kidnapped by separatists, along with Marc and Yoshie, and had his powers disabled. He gets separated from Nike and Marc while trying to get out and manages to get his sister to safety. However he is injured severely and on the verge of death when Nike comes back and manages to save him.

- Once he finds out that Nike is queen he is convinced to go to the Palace, along with Yoshie, and try and speak with her. Even though Nike tries to brick wall them both, she eventually gives Shinji the job of her personal security.

Character's Financial/Social Situation:Before meeting Nike he and his sister lived on the bare minimum. He pulled plenty of odd jobs to keep them afloat. Currently he has become the head of Nike's personal security.
Educational Background: He attended all the way up to 12th grade at Clarite Academy/University.
Family & Relationships:

Yoshie: (alive) Biological Sister. About 11 years older than her, has been helping watching her ever since she was a baby. However, when he was only 19 years old they both had to run from Clandestine after becoming separated from their family. They have become close, though he has always kept an older brother type status rather than become a father figure. She is his glue, without Yoshie he probably would never be as social or kind as he is. He tends to protect her a bit too much, verging on overbearing... however she can also sweet talk him into anything.

Nike: (Alive) Foster Sister. He was extremely hesitant about getting to know this foreign girl who seemed... off to say the least. However, due mostly to Yoshie's pressure, he warmed up to her. Seeing many similarities between himself and this girl. Though, he probably doesn't see it that way. She's the second source of his grey hairs and wrinkles and is a constant aggravation considering the amount of trouble she gets in.
But he finds he wants to protect her just as much as he desires to protect his own sister. Their relationship can become a great deal more strained considering her more brash attitude and the...retarded uninformed ways she can treat relationships. But he won't leave her alone. Partially because of Yoshie's influence, but mostly because he has come to love her as a sister.

Athena: (alive) He and Athena get along

Ichichiro: (Missing/Most likely dead) His older brother. He admired his older brother greatly and tried to continue on in his footsteps. Becoming a family rock, no matter how small his family is now. His brother was much more relaxed then he was, however they did have a lot in common, many commented on them being practically twins in this respect.

Sayuri: (Missing/Most Likely Dead) His younger sister, Yoshie's older sister. The middle child but the first daughter, Sayuri was considered extremely beautiful and graceful, having all the poise a proper Japanese woman should possess. He was pretty close with Sayuri, however as she grew older they became more distant considering diverging interests.

However, she was the last of his family he saw before leaving Clandestine, she was the one that requested he keep Yoshie safe, no matter what.

Mother & Father: (Missing/Most Likely Dead) Shinji was closer to his mother than his father. His father always wanted him to live up to his older brother’s standard, however Shinji wanted to be his own person. His mother was always much more kind and forgiving. Letting him do as he pleased.

How does Character see himself/herself? As an older brother and a protector.
How does Character believe he/she is perceived by others? Hopefully an authority figure, but he feels like he's completely ignored half of the time
How would others describe your Character? A little boring and stiff. Those who know him well know he's kind and a bit of a push over.
What is the spine of your character? He's brave when it comes time to be. Most of the time he's cautious, he doesn't like to get into dangerous situations
What is the mental process of your character? He thinks through things methodically and logically. He doesn't like to rely on his emotions.... though once they do come up they are powerful forces in his judgment
What would most embarrass this character? Probably someone pointing out how important everyone in his life is and taking advantage of it.
What does the character want out of life? PEACE AND QUIET.
What would the character like to change in his/her life? No matter how much he complains about how much Nike and Yoshie worry him... right now he's pretty content. He only wishes the rest of his family was alive.
What motivates this character? The memory of his family and their deaths. Their last request was that he keep Yoshie alive and happy.
What frightens this character? Losing his family and not being able to do anything about it.
What makes this character happy? His family. Specifically, if Nike and Yoshie are happy, he will be happy.
