Shinji is a Wizard. This means he can manipulate energy and elements to his will. He's fairly experienced and powerful considering his age and the environment he spent his childhood in.

What does being a wizard mean?!

• Basic control over the elements, His specific elemental alignment is earth and wind.


• The tattoo across his back and arm work as wings, a weapon and can manipulate technology. Getting this tattoo was an extremely painful process and is now illegal, Shinji was one of the last surviving wizards to have the ritual performed on him.


• Instant Teleportation. For short distances this is no problem. For longer distances. Like let's say over a mile away, you need a seal set up before hand... trying long distances with out a seal is... uh. Bad.


• The medium Shinji uses is, of course, his tattoo. It helps him accelerate spells, it makes learning any sort of magic easier.

Shinji was born and raised into an ancient clan. They specialized in a specific type of magic, using tattoos across the body to draw and concentrate energy, able to manipulate technology, wings and even a gun. Though, this is just what Shinji is limited to, many others were able to do much more with their tattoos. However, the application of the tattoo is extremely dangerous, and in the clan's rush to create more soldiers for the impending war, they didn't take the time necessary to try to find proper candidates for such procedures. Shinji was the first in his family's children to receive the tattoo, almost dying in the process, the family decided to run away from their clan and their duty. This didn't go over well and they were discovered.
